Athletes to watch

Boys: The Trojans are experienced in sprints, distance and throws and can improve in the WVC with strong showings there. John Guszak and Dawson Hughes can contend in for D2 medals in the discus and shot put, respectively, after both took 15th last season. Trevor Grohowski will lead in the distance events, and Joe Ammons will take over in the sprints after running the 12th-fastest 200 prelim last postseason

Girls: The Trojanettes are loaded with underclassmen — 14 sophomores and 18 freshmen dot their 38-girl roster. Though their list of upperclassmen isn’t deep, it should be competitive. Junior Amiah Lukowski is D2’s returning 200 and triple jump champion and 100 runner-up. Junior Veronica Penko took 10th in the 300 hurdles, senior Taylor Zabrenski was 12th in the javelin, and senior Emily Scott will look to climb up D2’s 1600 leaderboard.
