During the 2026-2027 school year, the Greater Nanticoke Area School District (GNASD) will be transitioning to a Chromebook Cart based system where devices stay in the school and are not taken home.

Each classroom in grades 3 through 12 will be issued a district owned Chromebook Cart for students to use during their classroom instruction time.

Why are we doing this? Studies have increasingly shown that the amount of time children are spending on screens is unhealthy, especially in regard to their mental health. We may be unintentionally adding to this problem with both in school work and home work being issued on Chromebooks. It is the opinion of district administration that all class work should not be fully digital and that we return Chromebooks to their original intended use of being a supplemental tool that students can use for furthering their education, not their sole method of instruction.

1:1 Devices that have been issued to students will be collected by grade level during the first half of the school year, as the carts become ready to go into service.

The Chromebook Policies page will be fully updated once the transition to the cart system is complete.

Clear backpacks are REQUIRED
in ALL buildings.
