Boys Volleyball Preview

Greater Nanticoke Area

Coach: Debbie Krupinski
2005 record: 9-6

Times Leader
Top players: Eric Bieski, sr., setter; Keith Munson, jr., outside hitter; Matt Harvey, jr., outside hitter; John Albanese, so.
Last year, Nanticoke, Hazleton and Abington ended the regular season tied for the eighth seed in the District 2 tournament and also played a tri-meet to decide who would get the last seed.
Top five matches: Lake-Lehman at North Pocono, Wednesday; Nanticoke at Berwick, April 5; Bishop Hoban at Lake-Lehman, May 9; North Pocono at Bishop Hoban, May 11; Hazleton Area at Nanticoke, May 17.
Outlook: The Trojans have quietly become a contender in the WVC. With many players returning from last year’s team, they should improve on their record and make a run at the playoffs.

Citizens Voice
Nanticoke Area, annually a contender, is rebuilding after losing Dan Grabinski and Keith Jablonski.
Senior Eric Bieski is an outstanding performer and coach Deb Krupinski will look to him to lead a young squad.
“It’s safe to say Eric is one of the best setters in the league,” said Krupinski, whose team was 9-6 last year. “Right now it’s tough. We have lots of talented young players but they lack experience. I feel we’ll develop as the season goes on.
“We have lots of freshmen with ability but they lack knowledge of the game.”
Junior Mark Harvey is another player Krupinski will rely heavily on.
